What Do I need to bring to class?
Clothing appropriate for the weather.  Layers are best as the weather can change and we move in and out of shelter.  A pen that will work in all weather conditions.  We provide a class manual that covers the class, to keep note taking to a minimum.

I Cook on a (fill in the blank) do you?
Our class is not aimed at a specific cooker.  We cook on several different cookers in class.  Students always get all their questions answered as we have experience cooking on almost every style available.  We help with problems and offer advice on how to avoid problems.  Students with this concern always leave happy as do all our students, guaranteed.

Why is the same class different prices?
The Day one class in different states covers the same material and we cook the same meats. In Texas we cook on an offset (Lang 48) and Weber products. In Washington state it's Weber's and Big Green Eggs's and no offset. Other locations is a mix of the above. Price varies because of costs, the core content stays the same.

Rain Cancellation Policy?
We cook in all weather conditions.  We will offer a make up class if the class is cancelled due to a disaster declaration or if the state patrol advises against travel.

Can I Bring my cooker to class?
You are welcome to bring your cooker.  Most students don't.  If you do please contact us well ahead of time to make sure we have space and for a list of supplies to bring.

How many students per class?

We limit class size to 25 students.  This insure everyone gets their questions answered and there is enough time for each student.

Do I need an expensive cooker?

A lot of award winning BBQ has been created with the classic Weber 22.5" Kettle.  These can be found on Craigslist used for very reasonable prices or even for free.  The "real" entry level smokers are the UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker) and the WSM (Weber Smokey Mountain).  The offset pit we use is a Lang.  These consistently do well at the elite levels of competition yet cost a fraction of the prices of other vanity pits.  Beyond that spending more money should get you ALL three things: maintains temperature, spare parts availability for the life of the cooker, more capacity.  If you do not get all three you'll regret it.  See our equipment guide on the links page for more information and choices.  The house brand  grills and smokers in the membership big box warehouse will almost always fail the parts availability test.

Is Prior Experience Required?

No! Our classes are designed so that everyone from the complete novice to the experienced cook will improve their barbecue skills.

Corporate Team Building

After years in the corporate world including McKinsey & Co. Konrad & Phyllis are very familiar with team building events.  The added benefit is the team building is renewed with every BBQ after the class. For details and pricing contact Phyllis at 425-280-3762.
